This e-mail is an update on Diane Pleines who was seriously injured on her way to the Georgia Mountain Rally in Hiawassee Georgia this past May. She is now settled in to a nice home with appropriate facilities and is getting on with her life. I wanted to send this along because a lot of you responded most generously to a call for help in lifting Diane's spirits during a very dark time in her life. Her room at the Sheperd center was wall-to-wall BMW t-shirts, books, hats, and the item that Diane really fell in love with was the Nomex suited WIlliams Brothers Racing team Teddy Bear that A&S sent for her. She carried it around on her wheel chair until she left her for home.

We stopped at A&S last week. Both of us on Harley Full Dressers. My buddy to check out the new CL1200, and me the K1200LT I have been drooling over. Time to go and my Bike won't start, *This is a first - and not good to happen in front of a BMW shop!!!! LOL!!!

After I checked all my fuses, relays and the Battery was clocking 12+ volts I walked into service scratching my head and asking for help. Within minutes one of their fine technicians, Tim as I recall, appeared with a battery load tester..
DEAD battery - Ignition Interuptus, that was the problem. He was very helpful as was all the staff.

Any bike can have a battery failure - No harm - no foul to HD!!! They offered to let me test ride the LT to the HD shop for a battery but my buddy had already taken off to fetch one for me from the nearby Harley Dealer. *Of course the Sales guy mentioned this might be a good time to trade in, but his trade in price was way too low to be acceptable to me for the new Black 2003 K1200LTC. If It had been I would have been very tempted!!!! Buddy arrived with Genuine HD battery, I had a cup off coffee, installed my new battery and we went on our way minutes later. *Thanks A&S.
Maybe one day soon I might own that new LT.....

Thanks for hooking me up... I love the new Beemer!!!! Just as important, thank you and your crew for watching Jacob while we wrote up the paperwork.... he didn't want to leave!!! The pix of him tooling around the shop are GREAT!!!! Michela made the comment... do you think we would have gotten that kind of personal service from the Suzuki dealer???!!! Think NOT!!! Now my only problem is finding more time to get out and RIDE!!!! I'm gonna be in there this week to look for a riding jacket and a tank bag and possibly a tail bag. Long term plans to go with the BMW system cases for those weekend trips. Thanks again.

Just a note to thank you, and especially Jeff in service, for taking care of me and my 2000 K1200LT last Thursday on short notice. I had broken down up in Colusa, and when I finally got the bike to you the warranty problem was diagnosed and fixed quickly - so quickly I had time to spend another bunch of money so you could do the 12k service and still get the bike back to me at the end of the day. Thanks again for the quick service!

Hello Ryan;

I would like to extend my thanks to you and recognize Mike and the Service Dept for outstanding customer service from the time I purchase my K1200RSA and the service that followed, and will continue. On November 1st,2003, I came to your business to particpate in the open house. During my visit, Mike Zinda approached me and offered his assistance if needed. Needless to say, I found the red K1200RSA. From that point on Mike was extremely helpful in assisting me in purchasing the K1200. He made the process painless and in a timely manner. Not long there after I returned to A&S Cycle for the 6000 mile service, and again, was greeted and treated with excellence. What impressed me the most was just prior to picking up the bike to ride home, I was met first by the technician who rode the bike and then by the service manager. The technician and I talked briefly about the bike, tips, recommendations, etc, then the service manager talked with me, explaining what had been covered. In the over 40yrs that I have been riding motorcycles, this was a first. To that end, I extend my deepest thanks to Mike for his professionalism and continuing support through e-mail and letters, and to the service department for a job well done. I understand now why A&S Cycle is number 1.

I wanted to purchase mirrors for my R1150RT, but was concerned that they might interfere with the BMW tall/wide windshield. I would agree, purchased a 2000LT from them @ 5 weeks ago and purchased as is with No warrantee. After some reading of upgrades the factory had done on under warrantee bikes. I was wanting a transmission skid plate, those boys came up with one with the hardware and charged me NADA. That's damn good PR.

Good buying experience with Ted when I bought my '03 new in December. Service department has also done a great job.


I stopped by on a Saturday for the free coffee and Ted asked me how the bike was. I mentioned there seemed to be too much slop in the throttle cable, and I was going to adjust it out when I got home. Much to my surprise a few minutes later a service writer asked for the keys, and it was fixed and back in 20 minutes. No paperwork or bs. Now that's service!!! Thanks Ted!


I've ordered a lot of stuff from their site and have always been treated well when I had questions and always received the order on time and complete.

This is a thank-you note from a stranded, mechanically-impaired GS rider with a dead battery yesterday (Sunday) in Williams, CA.


After much time and courteous (but not very helpful) dealing with BMW Roadside Assistance, I called A&S for advice. Long story short, I finally got the bike jump started from a car battery with advice from A&S parts and from a technician who happended to be there during non-service hours. I made it into the shop at 3:00pm, bought the gel battery, and with the invaluable "informal" help from Todd (I wouldn't have made it otherwise), I replaced the battery by closing time. That "above and beyond" help allowed me to accomplish this, and get back home to the SF peninsula in daylight.

Thanks for maintaining a true culture of SERVICE!.

Hi Mike, I just wanted to say “thanks” for your time yesterday and for the gifts. My expectation of ANYTHING associated with BMW is always very high and I have to say that once again my expectations have been more than met!

I purchased my first K1200LT from A&S on 12/31/2003 (a used 2001) and have been into the dealership many times since then for conversation, accessories and service, most recently to get a flat tire replaced and pick up some new gear (helmets, gloves, tire repair kit, etc.)

I have observed and experienced the friendly and professional service that these fine folks provide. Whether you live in the Sacramento area or find yourself passing through, if you appreciate great people and great service, I would highly recommend you stop by and visit A&S - where "It's about the ride", but you'll enjoy the people too.

I am writing this letter towards the Outstanding Customer Service that I received from your salesman: Dan McDonnell.

I have been looking to buy a 2005 BMW F650GS Dakar since January 2004. I did extensive research on the bike through the Internet, and when it came time to pick a salesperson and dealership – there really was only one choice: Dan McDonnell with A&S. I live in the East Bay, and since there are not a lot of BMW Motorcycle dealerships close by – I made initial contacts by e-mail. Since I knew that bike was not out yet – I did not want to waste peoples’ time. Dan returned my e-mail faster then any one else – some did not even return my request for information on the bike. With so much information on the Web – a company must stay current on how people are looking for their products. E-mail is the easiest way to make contacts and gain information that cannot be found on a company Web site.

After a few e-mails, Dan and I set up an appointment for a test drive on a 2003 Dakar. He was extremely helpful before, during and after the ride. Dan was the reason that I was the first customer to put a deposit down on the 2005 Dakar. Dan gives you his undivided attention when interacting with you.

In the following months – Dan kept me informed by e-mails and telephone calls about the status of the delivery of the Dakar. I am a Customer Service Manager for a homebuilder in the East Bay – so I understand the importance of keeping a customer informed of what is happening. I am sure that I tried his patience with my e-mails – and lists of accessories I wanted to buy – but he was always professional in our dealings.

You are extremely privileged to have an employee of Dan’s character working for A&S BMW Motorcycles.
