Cotton reels are oversize paddock stand bobbins, which screw into the paddock stand holes in the swingarm of your BMW S1000RR. Because they're offset, the protect your swingarm while enabling the bike to be raised on a rear wheel stand.
Are they cotton reels or spindle sliders? Well they are both! R&G Racing's cotton reels are mounted to a special, black-anodised aluminium bracket (included with the kit). They will give protection to the swingarm area in most crashes. Also the bike can be lifted on the Cotton Reels, using a paddock stand with hooks (such as R&G SH0001). For rear wheel removal, you can take the cotton reels out of the aluminum blocks and insert them into the paddock stand bobbin screw holes.
