BMW GS Off-Road Riding Skills Instructional DVD
By Sterling Noren and Rawhyde Adventures, 2010
Noren Films, 1 hour.
Over 95% of the world's roads are unpaved, so if you don't like to (or can't)
ride in the dirt, you'll find yourself confined to a mere 5% of the planet. Big adventure bikes like the BMW GS motorcycle are the SUV's of the motorcycle world, yet many riders are nervous about taking them off into the dirt, even though that's what they were designed for.
The BMW GS Off-Road Riding Skills
DVD is designed to help "newbie" GS riders get comfortable with the basics
of riding in the dirt. The material based on the official BMW Off-Road Riding
Academy rider training program at Rawhyde Adventures.
By watching the DVD and practicing the lessons contained within, GS riders
will learn the fundamentals of riding big adventure bikes off the pavement,
including the differences between street riding and off-road riding, body position,
balance and clutch control. There are 13 lessons in total, including riding
while standing, lifting a fallen motorcycle off the ground, the "friction zone", slow speed
balance, turn execution (counter-balancing), rear wheel skids, front brake
friction, ascending and descending steep hills and riding in sand. Proper ergonomic
set up of the bike is also covered.
