Motus MST Prototypes Visit A&S Powersports
On
Tuesday, July 26, more than fifty A&S Powersports customers
got a close-up look at the newest American-made motorcycle, the Motus MST.
Motus Motorcycles president, Lee Conn, and his design team rode in on the
first two prototypes, the MST and the MST-R, to show off their work
and take comments, questions and suggestions from an appreciative group
of motorcycle enthusiasts.
The Motus team has been traveling the country this summer,
riding the bikes to motorcycle dealerships like A&S Powersports, enthusiast
hang-outs like nearby Alice's Restaurant and race tracks like Laguna Seca.
In fact they carefully planned arrival in California
to coincide with the 2011 MotoGP at that famous track where they received
an enthusiastic crowd of riders eager to see the two 160 hp, V-4 powered
bikes.
Motus president, Lee Conn, pointed out that the bike was designed from the ground up in the US and will be produced in Birmingham, Alabama. According to Motus chief designer, Brian Case, this trip is more than just meet-and-greet photo-ops. Both bike's are laden with sensors
and data-aquisition equipment and every bit of data collected while the bikes
are ridden under real-world conditions of speed, and loading will be used
as they do the final development work on these machines.
Standing beside a fully touring-outfitted
silver Motus MST, Conn said that they expect to have bikes in dealerships
by next year and that the team is closing in on the final specifications
of the production units.
As the event wound down with questions answered and skeptics convinced, (and a few potential buyers tempted) the team left immediatly for their next stop: the famous salt flats at Bonneville Utah. You can learn more about Motus Motorcycles at their web site: http://www.motusmotorcycles.com.
