Twisties and more twisties
Today was a wonderful day of riding. We traveled over 400 miles and I'm betting 350 of them were curves and switchbacks. To my non-bike riding friends this is a good thing; actually a great thing.
Yesterday we arrived at my daughter's house where we were greeted by my little grandchildren. That's Bella on my bike and Rhys on his "Harley".
The ride from Alturas to La Grande. OR yesterday was not very interesting. Doug and I learned that we can get over 300 miles on our GSA's. Yes we almost ran out of gas. I was .5 gallon short of being dry. My odometer read 290 miles.
From La Grande, this morning, we headed to Lolo via some of the most motorcycle friendly roads I have ever seen. Here is a picture that says it all:
Tomorrow we enter Canada! So just a note on the health side. I must admit this is harder than I thought it would be. Today fatigue set it. Doug and I found a spot on the side of the road that had a large flat rock. I just rolled up my jacket and laid down for a while. It did the trick and I was able to finish the ride to Lolo. We are at the Days Inn and it is interesting because it looks like a BMW motorcycle dealership out in front of the registration desk. The owners encouraged us to park where they can see the bikes and it so happens there are about 10 BMW parked there; also one Harley and one Goldwing.
So, Doug and I have to wonder: if it is this beautiful here how much better will it get in Canada and Alaska? We can't wait to find out.
